There’s no shortage of places in Fort Worth slapping pita around some rotisserie meat, but I’ve eaten my way through all of them so you don’t have to suffer the dry stuff. From a proper downtown tasting room with a sommelier to a spot called Stop-N-Go Gyros that’ll ruin Greek fries for you forever, this city’s Mediterranean game is shockingly deep.

I even found a hot honey hummus that made me question every life choice that led me to not eating it sooner. Trust me, bring a big appetite and your patience for parking.

Here’s where to eat.

Fresh food, made to order
Friendly, allergy-aware staff
Generous portions, tasty gyros
Amazing four-dip appetizer
Clean, attentive, welcoming service

I walked into The Great Greek Mediterranean with my usual grumpy skepticism, and they practically shoved it out the door. The fresh food, made to order, is a real thing, not a slogan. I tried that four-dip appetizer and nearly wept into the pita. The staff is friendly and truly allergy-aware, which matters when you travel with a human who is allergic to the concept of fun. Portions are generous, the gyros are tasty, and the whole place is clean with a welcoming buzz. I left full, happy, and slightly annoyed I have to come back. Fine, I will.

Istanbul Grill & Bar is the kind of place that makes me wonder why I ever eat anywhere else. The lamb kebabs were perfectly tender, and I say that as someone who has filed complaints about lamb in three states. The warm, classy atmosphere had me sitting up straighter, and the staff smiled like they actually wanted me there. The fresh shrimp and lentil soup were both excellent, but those pricey platters? Worth every bite. Yes, it costs more. No, I do not care. I am already planning my nextvisit and my next excuse.

Worth returning again and again

Olive Kabab & Gyro is not messing around. I will say it plainly: this is the best chicken shawarma in DFW. I have made a personal study of shawarma, which is my only graduate degree, and this place passes with honors. The food is outstanding, and the service is just as good. The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming, which is rarer than a clean napkin in some places. I will be returning again and again, mostly because I have no self-control. But also because it is that good. Do not argue with me about this.

Aladdin Mediterranean Cafe is where I go when I need a gyro and a hug. The hot honey hummus is perfection, and I am a hummus snob of the highest order. The beef shawarma portions are generous, and the owner checked in on me like I was a guest at a family dinner, not a guy who was about to make loud noises into his plate. They have the best gyro in DFW, and the family friendly lunch deals are a gift. My only complaint is that I have to share the table with other people. Fine, they are nice.

Chadra Mezza & Grill is a cozy space with a relaxed vibe and a full bar, which is a dangerous combination for me. The heavenly chicken is a must, and I am not exaggerating when I say I had a spiritual experience. The owners genuinely care, and the staff is friendly without being fake. The catering always hits, too. I have eaten here more times than I care to admit, and I will keep coming back. The place is small, so go early or prepare to wait. But the wait is worth it. Trust me, I hate waiting.

Byblos Mediterranean Restaurant is the place I go when I have time to actually enjoy dinner. The savory lamb shank is perfection, and I ate it slowly like it was a moral principle. The staff is attentive and friendly, with some veterans who know exactly what you need before you do. It is a relaxing, unhurried experience, and they are known for a delicious Friday fish special. The lunch buffet is safe for allergy-conscious people, which is a godsend. I left feeling like I had a real meal, not just fuel. That is rare.

Hot-spot-gyro is a name that sounds like a meme, but the food is no joke. The dining room is spotless, and the staff is the friendliest I have met in Fort Worth. Huge portions, unforgettable gyro flavor, and the hummus and falafel are unlike anything else in town. This place is a family favorite and has become my instant go-to spot. I ordered with confidence and ended up with so much food that I left with leftovers. I never leave with leftovers. I am a monster who eats everything. This place defeated me.

Warm, intimate dining atmosphere

The Blue Room at Emilia's is a different beast entirely. Chef Paine uses creative Texas sourcing, and the tasting menu presentations are stunning. I felt like I was at a performance, except the performer was a plate of food. The sommelier and service are exceptional, and the warm, intimate atmosphere is perfect for celebrations or dates. I brought my grumpy self and left in a good mood. That is a miracle. It is not a cheap night out, but for a special occasion, this is where I go. I am already planning my next excuse.

Worth the long drive
Owner’s dream is real
Skip this one, sadly
Food missed the mark
Staff kind, food lacking

Downtown Shawarma & Gyro is a sad one. I drove a long way because someone said it was worth it, and I want that time back. The owner has a dream, and I respect that, but the food missed the mark. The staff was kind, so I felt bad about the disappointment. The shawarma was dry, the gyro was bland, and I left wondering if I ate at the wrong place. I did not. Sadly, skip this one. There are too many good spots in Fort Worth to waste a meal here. I am grumpy about it.

Great food, kind staff
Greek fries are a must
Walkable from downtown offices
Quality at a fair price

Stop-N-Go Gyros sounds like a gas station, but it is a real restaurant that gets it right. Great food, kind staff, and the Greek fries are a must. I ordered them as a side and almost ordered a second batch for dessert. It is walkable from downtown offices, which is dangerous for my lunch budget. The quality is solid for a fair price, and I appreciate that. I have had worse meals at places that cost twice as much. This is my new weekday go-to. Do not tell my other favorite spots. They will be jealous.

Moe's Gyro is a lunchtime lifeline. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the beef hummus is a standout. I had the Moe's Special, and it satisfied every part of me that was hungry. Good value for the lunch rush, but come early or take out. The place gets crowded, and I am not about waiting. The staff is efficient, and the food is consistent. I have eaten here multiple times and never been let down. That is more than I can say for most things in my life. I am a fan.
