Big Tony's BBQ Kitchen raises the bar for Texas barbecue, and I say that having eaten at a fair share of smokehouses. The brisket is the star, with a smoky flavor that lingers and a melt-in-your-mouth texture that makes sauce feel like an afterthought. I walked in and was greeted warmly from the door, which set the tone. The ribs are legit too, and everything I tried felt tested and vouch-worthy. If you want barbecue that doesn't need a crutch, this is it. I’d drive out of my way for this place again. No question.

Grub Truck Y'all is the best burger in Rhome, and I’ll defend that claim. The patty is juicy, the bun holds up, and the toppings are fresh. The staff is friendly and helpful, even when the line gets long. They also do catered corporate lunches, which my office loved, and the chicken salad with raspberry vinaigrette is a nice, lighter option that doesn’t skimp on flavor. Whether you’re grabbing lunch or planning an event, this truck delivers. I give it my full endorsement.

Taco Time Mexican Grill gets the basics right, which is why I keep coming back. The service is fast, and the place is clean, which is more than I can say for some taco spots. The fajita meat is tender and flavorful, seasoned well without being overpowering. The rice and beans are solid, too. However, the breakfast burrito disappoints; it’s dry and lacks the punch of their lunch menu. Still, if you stick to the tacos and fajitas, you’ll leave satisfied. I’ll just skip the morning order next time.

B4 Barbeque serves brisket that is super tender and juicy, with a smoke ring that tells you they know what they're doing. The charro beans are spiced just right, a hearty side that could be a meal on its own. And the burnt ends? Otherworldly. They’re caramelized, smoky, and almost buttery. For dessert, the tres leches is heaven on earth, soaked and sweet without being cloying. This is old-school barbecue done with care. I’d say it’s a hidden win for the area, but honestly, it deserves to be famous.
